Nessacary, formerly known as Gwennesia Lillard recently won “Best Female Artist” at the 2016 Go DJ Awards at NRG Stadium Houston, in front of an audience of 3,000 music fans, broadcast live on 97.9FM The Box.

Nessacary’s new single and music video “Welcome to Houston” comes on the heels of her last song “Fiyah” an acclaimed track in which Nessacary displayed her lyrical dexterity, and unbridled urban vernacular. Slim Thug (American King) and Paul Wall (Slab God) co-sign Nessacary’s foray into the rap world with their collaboration on the song and video.

Nessacary, a Houston resident, but proud Cleveland native, showed the world that she is not just a pretty face, when she released her 2015 mixtape “By Any Means Nessacary – Reloaded” hosted by Bigga Rankin, and featuring artists such as Paul Wall, Killa Kyleon and Rocko.

Nessacary’s place in the music industry was recognized in 2008, at the Rebel Army Radio Awards when she won “Best Female MC” and again in 2010, wining a record six awards; “Best Female MC,” “Best Female Artist,” “Best Collab,” “Best Female Collab,” “Best Mixed Collab” and “Female Chart Topper,” which was totally unprecedented for the Cleveland based internet radio awards program.
