Alex Banin Cements Her Star Power With ‘halfway’

Over a year ago, London-born, NYC-raised artist Alex Banin released her debut EP, Did I ImagineThe succinct four-track EP served as less of a showcase and more of an affirmation of her salient gift for emotionally intoxicating songwriting. Now, Banin returns with her latest track, “halfway,” a sonic departure that sacrifices none of the empathy that fueled her rapid rise over the last couple of years.

Heavily reliant on storytelling and reflective introspection, Alex Banin’s newest track, “halfway,” describes the conflicting emotions that exist in a stagnant relationship. With warm vocals marinated in melancholy and hope, she explores a more upbeat tempo with M-Phazes‘ production, well-known for his work with Ruel, Remi Wolf, and Demi Lovato. She pairs his backbone of active drums with her laid-back attitude. The song is rounded out with additional production and co-writing by Alex Banin’s frequent collaborator, vlush.

After the release of her 2021 EP, Did I Imagine, “halfway” couldn’t come at a better time. Alex Banin is the perfect distraction to completely lose yourself in and become blissfully unaware of the chaos around the world. So dive on in and submerge yourself in “halfway.”
