Moreno Valley, CA’s Asha Imuno never shies away from allowing himself to be vulnerable in his music. His transparency and general accessibility separate his music from everyone else. The emerging artist/producer recently dropped off his latest single/video, “PUSHING BUTTONS” produced by zach ezzy. Marking the first single off his upcoming album, PINS & NEEDLES, there’s no better way he could’ve started this rollout.
With “PUSHING BUTTONS,” we witness Imuno go through the motions of losing hope and looking for answers in real time. His songwriting effectively shows you that these chains of events caused him to feel very conflicted and left his thoughts scrambled. Now feeling helpless, he’s forced to have a serious conversation with himself and ask himself if he’s a burden. It’s undoubtedly one of the most captivating journeys an artist has taken me on this year, causing me to reflect on myself.
Asha Imuno’s latest single and music video release, “PUSHING BUTTONS,” feels like it served his purpose as an album opener and reminded us how brilliant a songwriter he can be. I hope to see more reflective moments like this on the upcoming album.
