Every week we wait patiently for that fresh batch of new tunes from our favorite fast-rising acts. Whether it’s Groovy, Maesu, Jay Wood, or S.U.R.F, we all want to dig in and get our dose of brand-new music. Here are this week’s picks for the best new songs.
Groovy — BADGURL
I don’t think anyone could’ve predicted Jersey Club music to take over the way it did. Even more impressive is the unique music combinations that people come up with using Jersey Club, like Groovy. This neo-pop/R&B artist’s new single, “BADGURL” is truly an enigma of energy. His smooth yet graceful vocals have the power to sweep anyone off of their feet.
DJ Marc B & S.U.R.F — X
Atlanta-based S.U.R.F‘s new project, F**K YOU MEAN: S.U.R.F with heavy-hitter producer DJ Marc B is everything you would want in a collaborative effort. S.U.R.F is one of the hottest rising artists for his sheer consistency. The standout track, “X” is a fun-bouncy song that fits perfectly with warm spring weather.
Maesu — Sex On GPS
Maesu made a great first impression with his debut EP JamPak Spring ’23, especially with the lead single, “Sex On GPS.” Maesu finds a way to show he’s different through the use of his sensual and seductive lyrics and not come off as raunchy.
Jay Wood — Overachiever
“Overachiever” is the newest release from Chicago rapper Jay Wood. Produced by frequent collaborative partner Namesake, “Overachiever” is a dreamy yet high-energy track about overcoming the trials and tribulations of chasing your dreams. With lines like “everything is going as I planned it, I ain’t mad at a bump in the road, I ain’t mad at you dawg I understand it,” Wood is confident, earnest, and hungry over bouncy namesake production.
