Chrystel Shines on Her Debut EP ‘Prey’

Following a string of well-received features and collaborations in 2020, Chrystel is ready to tell more of her own story with her debut EP Prey. The EP is a cohesive 3-song project, a double entendre meant to bring you to your knees and stir up the reckoning that gives you wings. The project opens with the melancholy and uptempo LMBSKN-produced track Thunder which was written at the beginning of quarantine in 2020. Lyrics like “you know my lightning is different, I know you see something in it,” and “we get one chance in this life, don’t know why,” offer a hand to a world that is weathering the same storm.

Produced by MØW Music, Hot Star is the middle gem that proceeds as a self-assured and assertive summer anthem not only exuding confidence but loyalty. Good Thang closes the EP as the record meant for someone else. Co-Written by Grammy award-winning singer-songwriter, Vincent Berry, the record took on a life of its own. Encouraged by the track’s producers to put it out as is, the song is a true testament to Prey; betting on yourself.
