LA-based, Jersey-raised Drok is back with an up-tempo and electronic release titled “Work.” Drok can be described as a versatile artist whose main sound is Hip-Hop/Rap, but he finds the importance of engaging in other genres and production depending on his intention for the song. His music will have you coasting through melodies, bopping to base, and bouncing to drum reverberations. With the release of “Work,” it is evident he continues to broaden his musical sound as he raps over a Dance/House sound.
The intention and vision for “Work” came from Drok observing his surroundings. Drok breaks it down and explains, “I noticed that a lot of the people around me were stressed out, didn’t have the freedom to experience life, and hated their career choice. So I wanted to make a song that had a vibe that would get people up and moving around.”
Drok is the direct portrayal of what it means to be authentic, someone who is all about expression. He believes your humanity, imperfection, and quirk can all exist amidst your fly, suaveness, and wisdom. He does this through several creative outlets, including music, art, fashion, jewelry, and more. Drok’s sound is fluid; bouncy enough for the function, funky enough for the smoke session, melodic enough for the ladies, and the wordplay is for the OG Hip-Hop heads. He has a very “if you know, you know” feel. The type of artist you want to keep to yourself, but also want everybody to know you knew them first.
