Jaywop Returns with Beaming New Single ‘Red Water’

Enlisting Mick Jenkins and Donte Thomas for the new banger

Jaywop has spent the last few years slowly and surely growing his wave and perfecting his craft. His ’21 project ‘Suede‘ was a 7-song body of work that showed the rising artist had much more to offer. Building off his impressive sound, Jaywop does such a great job of meshing classic tones with modern soundscapes in a way that works flawlessly. In what could be considered his final form, the Tacoma-born, Phoenix-raised artist returns with ‘Red Water,’ his first release since the summer of ’21. Connecting with long-time collaborator and Portland’s own Sxlxmxn, Jaywop enlists Mick Jenkins and Donte Thomas for the new banger.

Speaking on the new release, Jaywop had this to say:

“‘Red Water’ was created around the word that best describes what I felt I was experiencing; evolution. How can I do more than feel like I’ve evolved? I can either be the guy who tells everyone or shows them. I was in a new space regarding my music and frame of mind, and I wanted the track to exude that. Getting Mick Jenkins and Donte Thomas on the record was the piece to making that image clear. I’ve arrived, and I got my guys with me.”

With every play he makes, the ball seems to be in Jaywop’s court and ‘Red Water’ is one of those songs that builds immense anticipation for what will come next. Luckily for his fans, Jaywop shows no sign of stopping. Check out the new single down below.
