JG Riff Shines Brightly on His Debut Project

The DMV region has stood the test as a stronghold for rappers who’ve culminated their presence with signature styles. This allows each to separate themselves from many talented names who craft their lanes. JG Riff is no different. The rising musician is one of Washington, D.C.’s top lyricists.

Riff is ready, however, to stake his claim outside of his hometown as a musician to watch with his new LP, Riff. A full-length project is difficult to enjoy in an era where music tends to have short life spans due to the rate at which listeners receive new music, but Riff is a thrilling, all-around performance. The characteristic that sticks out while listening is the grittiness in his lyricism while carrying a distinctive rhythmic flow.

The opening record, “Riffy,” is fitting as an introduction to the world. The dynamics of boastful verses matched with an exciting variety of production instantly hook you. The project then leads into a diverse selection of tasteful records that all have unique qualities, Such as the vintage DMV-swag of “Free Savage,” memorable features like “Lights Off” with Joony, the acoustics paired on “Ride Wit Da Drizzy” or the elegant, hearty chorus of “Flex Wit Cha.” There’s a record for everyone on a project that is a prominent showcasing of versatility.

Riff is a glimpse of pure artistry from an artist who’s sure to impact music as the days continue. The LP is also the first product of the talent’s new partnership with the Steve Stoute-led distribution platform United Masters. This will allow JG Riff to grow with his evolving fan base. It will be compelling to witness his continued rise with this current momentum.
