Atlanta rapper Turls links with NicX for a three-song EP called “Tale Of The Times.” For Turls, Tale Of The Times follows up his two-track April solo EP “Tesla In The West End,” produced by Atlanta veteran Popstar Benny.
For NicX, a project like this is rare. A reclusive artist who rolls in circles with established musicians like J.I.D and 6lack, NicX appears to be settling into a comfortable space. The first track Swish is produced by Givtd. It’s just over 3 minutes in runtime. There are adlibs that give the song a futuristic, electronic feeling. The second song and title track, produced by Emmitt Breezy, is segued into nicely. Turls sounds like a young Wiz Khalifa as his vocals come in over the production. The last song, produced by Turls himself, seems to sample the same song sampled by Kid Cudi on “The End” featuring GLC, Chip tha Ripper, and Nicole Wray. The project is largely carried by Turls’ hooks and NicX’s sonically aesthetic verses.
Tale Of The Times is mixed and mastered by Louis Matos with the exception Havin’ which was mixed by Turls and mastered by Ezra Pound$. Tale Of The Times is now streaming everywhere on Empire. Check out the short offering down below.
