Independent Arizona-based rapper Pariah Pete returns with his brand new single Charcuterie. Produced by underground legend CoryaYo, Charcuterie is the most lyrically ambitious release of Pete’s career. The track explores the hardships Pete (and many others) have experienced over the last 18 months.
Charcuterie was simultaneously released with its music video, directed by Braxton Apana. Like the song, the video is bright but laden with poignant symbolism. Characters representing anxiety and depression lurk in the background or, quite literally, are placed in the driver’s seat.
Pariah Pete has been a stalwart of the Phoenix underground scene since 2016. First as a member of the influential hip hop collective 20 Pounds, and, from 2019 on, as a solo artist. In July of 2019, Pete released his album Mercury. The album’s critical success led Pete to become a major headlining act around Phoenix, which then snowballed into opening slots for Doja Cat and Xavier Wulf. With his next album, 4DASOUL scheduled for release in August, this new single gives us a taste of what’s to come. Check out the new video up above and stream the single down below.
