Hailing from the Midwest’s Indiana, Poindexter is without a doubt one of the most buzzing emerging artists. “Jeopardy” is the latest single from Poindexter’s forthcoming project, “An Extraordinary.”
Collaborating with longtime friend, Baleboygeechie, this record chops up some elements from the Jeopardy theme song over a Zaytoven inspired drum melody. Poindexter is known for his unique yet signature sound filled with witty punchlines, energy, and catchy cadences, and with the help of Emmy winning Director Jake Huber, Poindexter brings “Jeopardy” to life. “Jeopardy wasn’t a priority song of mine but he [Jake] was adamant about getting a Jeopardy-themed set built and after that, he boosted my confidence in the song,” said Poindexter in an email to SL. “From there, we brainstormed various ways to build a budget for it. Being the people Jake and I are, we got the job done.”
In the song, Poindexter raps about his experiences being a more high profile artist having to protect himself in a rather euphemistic way. In terms of set design, it nearly took a week to construct this built-from-scratch Jeopardy-themed set, designed by James Beaver. With an independent mindest, Poindexter is capturing the eyes and ears of many and has us all on the edges of our seats anticipating more content. Check out the new video down below.
