LA-Based Artist/Violinist V.C.R Drops Breathtaking Debut LP ‘The Chronicles of a Caterpillar: The Egg’

“It’s Not Just Another R&B Album. It’s a Message, My Story, My Ministry.”

There is zero doubt within my mind that violinist, composer, and vocalist V.C.R will be a force to be reckoned with after her new release. Her music is so impressive for its storytelling ability, and being trained as a violinist and gospel singer, she can bring a unique sound all of her own. Her first single of this year, “Blue” released in March, had me feening for more. Perfectly timed, V.C.R has now released her new album, “The Chronicles of a Caterpillar: The Egg.” Made up of eight songs that are all self-produced, this album is supported by features from multi-hyphenate artists Pink Siifu and Sudan Archives. These features help complete this album and help bring V.C.R’s creative vision to life.

In this 27-minute runtime, the multi-talented artist proves that she has the vocal skills to move mountains. You can especially hear it in the song “Minnie Lives,” where it feels like the spirit of Minnie Ripperton has possessed her body. If you know a thing or two about Minnie, you know she was the goat at hitting those high notes, which is something V.C.R has skillfully mastered. But even though she is influenced, she does it with her own modern twist.
