Yungmorpheus Is a Huge Representative of a New Rap Wave

Yungmorpheus‘ new album Black Schemata is exactly what you’d expect from the LA-based artist. Yungmorpheus is another rapper with a sound that comes from this new rise of abstract, experimental and sample heavy hip hop from New York with very dragged out flows, birthed by groups such Standing on the Corner, Griselda, and from what I know pretty much founded by SLUMS. It’s vibe music, but with way more substance and detail than the average album.

Throughout the album, Yungmorpheus has some excellent lyrical chops, and he delivers his clever bars with a relaxed confidence of an artist very sure of himself. Every aspect about this project is beautiful, production is on point, the LoFi production Swarvy, DMH (fka VIK), Theravada, August Fanon, Ahwlee, YUNGMORPHEUS, and Roper Williams matches Yungmorpheus’ voice.

If you love experimental albums you will for sure enjoy this album. The work perfectly represents how rap has now overcome all boundaries and sneaked into any genre. The records has a poetic feeling all around it and it’s a great listen. Stream it down below.
